International Tour Leader - Job Description

About Us and What We Do:

Founded in 2016, Passion Travel Services (PTS) is a modest budget, full-service tour agency based out of the United States.  We specialize in guided and accompanied tours to selected countries in Asia, Africa, South and Central America and we are continually working towards expanding our destinations. Our promise is that we only take clients to places we have already visited in an effort to develop relationships with local vendors and tour agents that we trust. In addition, doing so helps ensure that our destinations are safe, interesting and fun.  We are looking for energetic, organized and seasoned travelers to lead international tours. Our destinations encompass three main ingredients: culture, adventure and exotic beaches. Ideal candidates are physically fit, experienced/comfortable interacting with people from different backgrounds and have an affinity for adventures. This job is part traveler recruitment, part logistics and people management. Every tour requires a minimum of 6 clients. It’s really 3 couples or small groups of friends. Plus our tours are very affordable. Compared to our competitors, we are priced approximately 20% below market rate because we want to make travel to exotic places affordable for the average income earners. We also offer payment plans, so clients can spread out their payments.

Most tour agencies do not include flights in their travel packages. Including flights with our packages gives us leverage over our competitors as many of our clients prefer things done for them from beginning to end. If we want to be called a full-service tour agency, we must offer this service to those who want it.

We can teach you how to get your 6 clients just within your immediate circle using social media, but we find that the best way to get people to travel with you is through personal connections. You do not need a strong sales background to be successful.

Pay and Benefits:

Our ITLs will have their travel paid for plus a tour salary. Our ITLs will be paid 5% of package price, so the more people you recruit, the higher your pay will be. This is a wonderful opportunity for teachers, college students, self-employed people, seasonal workers, semi-retired and retired persons. This is a free-lance, 1099 position. 

Required Training:

Once selected, all ITLs must attend a hands-on training to learn to lead tours. Your training is a tour with the Travel Director, Phim Gilberry.

You can join our next Cuba trip, which is the most affordable and shortest tour we offer. Cost is $2,500 plus spending money. During this tour, you will learn to lead a tour under the close supervision of the tour director. You will learn how to develop itineraries, use travel tools, coordinate with local vendors and communicate with clients, and host a virtual meet and greet with clients prior to travel.

Once you have successfully completed training, you will work with our PTS staff to schedule your future tours and recruit travelers. Possibilities are endless.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Secure a minimum of 6 clients for each tour you lead. 

  • Must have traveled internationally on low or modest budget.

  • Work with PTS staff on crafting and editing tour itineraries.

  • Work with our staff to ensure all required documents and contracts are signed.

  • Work with our staff to ensure all bookings are complete.

  • Collaborate with local tour agents during tours to ensure smooth execution of tours.

  • Manage client expectations and lead in a way that ensures client safety, enjoyment, comfort and group cohesion. 

  • Maintain an open communication with our staff during tours to ensure smooth operation.

  • Maintain professionalism at all times, which means no fraternization with clients.

  • To be able to travel to all the countries we specialize in, you must hold a passport that allows you to enter those countries.

  • Must be fluent in English, bi-and multi-lingual a plus.

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to solve problems seamlessly.

  • Must be an excellent communicator.

  • Comfortable negotiating discounts when applicable.

  • Ability to maintain and manage vendor relationships.

  • Experience with coordinating travel arrangements.

  • Firm grasp of digital data and file management systems.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Proficient in using Telecommunication systems.

  • Proficient in using Travel Software.

  • Proficient in using Online Reservation Systems.
